Zagreb Design Week (ZGDW) is the most significant design festival in Croatia. The latest edition attracted over 25.000 visitors. The festival was launched in 2014 and is organised annually at several dozen locations around Zagreb. First four years central location was Lauba, and since 2018 it is Technical Museum Nikola Tesla, Hall V.
The sixth ZGDW will take place 7–12 May 2019. Festival consists of the largest displays on design, the exhibition of universities and schools, conferences, lectures, panel discussions, workshops and portfolio review. Tailoring various programmes to a different audience is one of the tools in the popularisation of design. From mass orientated content, through niche design specialised one, to B2B segment, ZGDW is covering all aspects of design. Each year different theme guides ZGDW, and a different country is in focus.The central location is 4.000 m2 big Hall V and adjoint garden. It has been renovated in 2018 exclusively for ZGDW. Each year brings different content, and for 2019 we’ll introduce ZGDW concept store where visitors could buy the best-designed products on the Croatian market, including numerous world and Croatian premiers. Design Garden is the place for daily chill and evening parties. The event will culminate in the Night of Design on the 10th of May.
Zagreb Design Week is trying to strengthen the Croatian economy and society in general by including design in all spheres of life. We believe that without design there is no modern society and that in Croatia design is not present enough. In a broader picture, ZGDW promotes Zagreb as an international centre of creative industries.
